- Write Decision Paragraph
· Paragraph Talks about the two views of where America should go between Jefferson and Hamilton. Hamilton wants the government to tax foreign goods (instate a tariff) to protect America’s industries. He also wants the government to give money to American companies to encourage them to grow bigger. He believed that we should not rely on other countries to provide us with our necessities. He thought that this would make us independent and self-sufficient.
1. Tariff- tax placed on foreign goods (raises prices on foreign goods).
· Thomas Jefferson believed that the citizens should be working to develop the massive expanse of land that is America. Jefferson said that industries will destroy our republic. He looked at the factories in Europe and decided that that was not a healthy lifestyle. Boys and girls worked day and night for low pay in terrible living conditions. He thought that we should develop our agriculture and supply ourselves with necessities.
